The Judicial Nominating Commission is now accepting applications for the judicial vacancy in the 1st Judicial District Criminal Court (Carter, Johnson, Unicoi and Washingtoncounties). The vacancy is being created by the retirement of Judge Lynn W. Brown, effective March 31.
An interested applicant must be a licensed attorney who is at least 30 years of age, a resident of the state for five years, and a resident of the 1st Judicial District for at least one year. Applicants must complete the designated application, which is available here and submit it to the Administrative Office of the Courts by Friday, January 11, 2013 at noon CST.
The Judicial Nominating Commission will set a date to interview all qualified applicants. The meeting will also include a public hearing where members of the public may express their opinions about the applicants. The interview, public hearing and deliberation process will be open to the public.
