Gov. Bill Haslam will administer the oath of office to the state’s newest Court of Appeals Judge, Neal McBrayer, at a ceremony in the Capitol’s Old Supreme Court Chamber at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 29.
In addition to the governor, speakers include Court of Appeals Chief Judge Charles D. Susano, Jr., State Senator Doug Overbey, Tennessee Bar Association Vice President Bill Harbison, and Nashville Bar Association President Charles Grant. The public is invited to attend.
Gov. Bill Haslam appointed Judge McBrayer to the court last year to replace Judge Patricia J. Cottrell, who retired earlier this month.
Judge McBrayer is a native of Maryville and most recently served as a partner in the Nashville office of Butler Snow LLP, where he handled commercial litigation and bankruptcy matters.
Judge McBrayer received his juris doctorate from the College of William & Mary in Virginia in 1989, where he was an editor of the William & Mary Law Review. He is a 1986 magna cum laude graduate of Maryville College.
