Pro Bono attorney volunteers from East Tennessee and law school student volunteers participated in a free legal clinic in Gatlinburg, Tenn. on Monday, December 19, 2016, providing legal advice to those devastated by the Gatlinburg wildfires.
Legal Aid of East Tennessee, the Sevier County Bar Association, the Tennessee Alliance for Legal Services and the Tennessee Bar Association have been asking for attorneys to assist with the legal clinics or pro bono cases. Attorneys from Johnson City, Morristown, Sevierville, Gatlinburg, Seymour, Knoxville and Athens provided the assistance as well as law students from the University of Tennessee College of Law and University of Memphis College of Law.
On Monday alone, 12 clients were assisted, and to date, more than 25 clients have received the free legal advice. The group intends on providing another free legal clinic in January.
