For years, Wilson County General Sessions and Juvenile Court Judge C. Barry Tatum has worked with students enrolled in Wilson County Schools. Time and again he has proven to be a positive influence on those students, as Modified Academic Program Principal Shaun Caven explained in a recent article in the Wilson Post.
"Judge Tatum is a figure in the community that helps a lot of kids,” Caven said. “He represents a lot of qualities that I like such as building relationships with young people. I’ve seen a lot of kids that have gone before him and they always come back and talk about him. They talk about what he’s done for their family and the impact he’s made on them.”
In honor of Judge Tatum's dedication to the young people who come through his courtroom, Wilson County Schools recently named one of its facilities in his honor. The Barry Tatum Academy is located on Stumpy Lane in Lebanon and houses the MAP program as well as the Tennessee Virtual Online Schools Program.
